Victor Wembanyama records first career triple-double in recent win
San Antonio Spurs star rookie Victor Wembanyama recorded the first triple-double of his career with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a 130-108 win at the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night. Despite playing just 21 minutes, Wembanyama became the youngest player in Spurs history to post a triple-double and just the fourth rookie ever to reach the feat without a turnover. Wembanyama continues to make a case for Rookie of the Year as he displays MVP-level potential on a weekly basis.
"Doing it in a win is everything of course. I didn't know it was the second-fastest in NBA history. It matters to me. I'm not the type to talk for nothing," Wembanyama explained to the media in the postgame press conference following his historic performance per The Hill. "This is the kind of statement we want to make as a team and this is type of statement I want to make as a player. It’s weird to imagine a different future and what it could have been. I’m glad it is the way it is though."
