NFL: Which teams are poised to make a Super Bowl run?
Week 11 of the NFL season concluded on Monday Night Football as the New York Giants took on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a clash of new school versus old school quarterbacks. Let’s dive into the leaders of each division. The Titans, Ravens, Patriots, and Chiefs top the AFC, while the Buccaneers, Cardinals, Cowboys, and Packers lead the NFC pack. In the AFC, the biggest shocker has to be the play of New England.
The Patriots are 7-4 and lead the AFC East with first-year quarterback Mac Jones. Over the last two games, the Patriots have dominated Cleveland (45-7) and Atlanta (25-0). Although New England should be considered a dark horse to win the Super Bowl this year, I think the Titans, Ravens, Chiefs, and Chargers are all more formidable than the Patriots. There is no doubt that Bill Belichick is the greatest coach of all time, however, his quarterback is in his rookie season and is somewhat limited.
The Chiefs simply have the best QB in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes, while the Ravens have a former MVP and dual-threat quarterback Lamar Jackson. Tennessee also has the best rushing attack in football outside of the Browns. On the other hand, the NFC seems to be the better conference in football. The reigning defending Super Bowl champions sit at 6-3 and lead the NFC South. Several other contenders are threatening the Bucs potential historic repeat.
Last year, Tampa Bay and Tom Brady made history by hosting and winning the Super Bowl in their home stadium. Now Brady is trying to win back-to-back Super Bowls for the first time since 2005. However, the Bucs will likely be tested with a tough matchup early in the playoffs against the Matthew Stafford-led Rams, MVP frontrunner Kyler Murray and the Cardinals, Green Bay’s high-powered offense with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams or a shocking Dallas Cowboys led by Dak Prescott.
