NFL: Rodgers leads MVP race, Brady & Taylor in contention
1. Aaron Rodgers (Packers)
2021 Stats: 3,689 yards, 68.0%, 7.8 yards per attempt, 33 TD, 4 INT, 110.8 passer rating, 67.7 QBR
Outside of the first game of the season, a blowout loss against the Saints in Jacksonville, Aaron Rodgers has been nothing short of sensational. Despite his toe injury, the 2020 MVP is back to the league's highest level of efficiency. If Rodgers hits 40 TDs and wins out, it will be hard to deny him back-to-back MVPs. Rodgers' road to the end of the season is a little tougher than Brady's, who is just behind him in the MVP race.
MVP Odds: +125
2. Tom Brady (Buccaneers)
2021 Stats: 4,580 yards, 66.7%, 7.2 yards per attempt, 37 TD, 11 INT, 100.2 passer rating, 64.1 QBR
Tom Brady had his worst game of the season against New Orleans on Sunday night in Week 15. Brady's touchdowns pass lead has shrunk and his interception percentage continues to climb. Although there is no denying Brady's poor performance, the Bucs were without some of their best players including, Mike Evans, Jason Pierre-Paul, and Antoine Winfield. Brady still has a chance to take home his 4th MVP based on how he finishes the season.
MVP Odds: +175
3. Jonathan Taylor (Colts)
2021 Stats: 1,626 yards, 5.5 yards per attempt, 19 total TD, 108.4 rush yards per game, 36 receptions, 336 yards
Jonathan Taylor without a doubt is the most valuable option on the board. The biggest challenge for him is surpassing 2,300 yards from scrimmage and 23 total touchdowns. Taylor is affecting his team greater than any other MVP candidate to date. Without his impact, the Colts are not a playoff team. He has taken over as the NFL's best running back since Derrick Henry's mid-season injury, and is averaging 5.5 yards per carry.
MVP Odds: +800
4. Matthew Stafford (Rams)
2021 Stats: 4,339 yards, 66.9%, 8.1 yards per attempt, 36 TD, 13 INT, 104.0 passer rating, 65.7 QBR
The narrative around Matthew Stafford was built at the beginning of the season after he was traded from Detroit to Los Angeles. The consensus was he would take his game to another level with his strong passing skills in Sean McVay's offense. That's been the case, but he's had more bad performances than Brady, despite outdueling him head-to-head. The Rams took down Tampa Bay at home 34-24 in September as Stafford threw for 343 yards and four touchdowns.
MVP Odds: +1000
