NFL: 2022 Divisional Round preview, picks
#4 Bengals (10-7, 1-0) @
#1 Titans (12-5)
The Titans don't get much respect as the AFC's #1 seed but they have a chance to solidify their mettle as the Bengals travel to Nissan Stadium on Saturday at 4:30 PM. Derrick Henry was cleared for contact practice on Tuesday and is expected to play after suffering a foot injury on Halloween. He had a league-high 937 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns before the injury. Cincinnati defensive end Trey Hendrickson is questionable with a concussion. Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase (116 yards on nine catches) were dynamite in their playoff debut for the Bengals, who are 3.5-point underdogs in Nashville.
Pick: Titans (-3.5)
#5 49ers (10-7, 1-0) @
#1 Packers (13-4)
Both teams are 4-1 in last five games as the 49ers are fresh off a 23-17 win at Dallas, while the Packers starters have two weeks of rest. Green Bay won at San Francisco 30-28 in early September as Aaron Rodgers threw for 261 yards and led a last-minute game-winning drive after the Packers blew a double digit lead in the second half. Rodgers has struggled against the 49ers in past playoffs though, going 0-3 including his postseason-low 23 QBR in the 2019 NFC championship. Nick Bosa is unlikely to go with a concussion. The Packers are 6-point favorites ahead of another freezing cold matchup at Lambeau Field.
Pick: 49ers (+6)
#4 Rams (12-5, 1-0) @
#2 Buccaneers (13-4, 1-0)
Following a 34-11 beatdown over Arizona on Monday night, the Rams head to Tampa Bay for highly-anticipated rematch with the Buccaneers. Matthew Stafford threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns and Odell Beckham totaled 94 yards on five touches in the impressive win against the Cardinals. Von Miller also had three tackles for loss and one sack. A day earlier, Tampa Bay blew past the Eagles 31-15 after jumping out to a 17-0 lead at halftime. When these teams met in September, Los Angeles won 34-24 but are 3-point underdogs on Sunday afternoon. Tom Brady is 2-0 against the Rams in the playoffs.
Pick: Buccaneers (-3)
#3 Bills (11-6, 1-0) @
#2 Chiefs (12-5, 1-0)
Another regular season rematch will close out the round as the Chiefs host the Bills on Sunday night at Arrowhead Stadium. Buffalo won at Kansas City 38-20 in October behind Josh Allen's unbelievable performance, totaling 374 yards and four touchdowns. Allen was just as great in a 47-17 blowout over the Patriots last weekend, finding the end zone five times. We'll see if he can sustain that level against an improved Chiefs defense. Kansas City is looking for a fourth consecutive AFC championship berth but the Bills offense is running as smoothly as any unit in the league right now.
Pick: Chiefs (-2)
