Chicago ranks 7th in defensive efficiency, allowing just 107.4 points per game, as additions Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso have fueled an aggressive perimeter defense. Chicago currently sits at 17-10, good enough for second place in the Eastern Conference, despite already beating the first place Nets twice this season. Brooklyn is 20-8 and has won three straight since losing to the Bulls a week ago, including a comeback victory over Detroit behind Kevin Durant’s league-best 51 points.
The Knicks are going in the opposite direction, losing four straight games and falling to 12-16. Kemba Walker has been removed from the rotation entirely after averaging 11.7 points and 3.1 assists on a career-low 24.5 minutes. Meanwhile, Golden State and Phoenix have been the two best teams in the NBA with a combined 45-10 record, and split two matchups last week. The Warriors were +14 following a blowout on Friday night, prior to a Christmas Day meeting.
