NBA: Spoken Truth Podcast breaks down trade deadline
During the most recent episode of the Spoken Truth Podcast, we broke down All-Star weekend and the trade deadline as the playoffs are quickly approaching. Stephen Curry dropped an incredible 50 points in the 163-160 win on Sunday, picking up his first All-Star Game MVP. Unfortunately the Slam Dunk Contest wasn't nearly as entertaining and we discuss whether the league should make changes to the consistently underwhelming event. Beyond that, we talked about the blockbuster deal that sent James Harden and Paul Millsap to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry and Andre Drummond. It's a deal that potentially moves the 76ers into the upper echelon of championship contenders. The full episode of the Spoken Truth Podcast is available on Spotify and YouTube!
The 76ers are currently 35-23 and should be able to easily secure home court advantage in the first round after adding Harden. On the other side, Simmons should make his season debut with the Brooklyn Nets in March after not playing since last summer. Brooklyn is 2-8 in their last 10 games and are sitting in 8th place in the Eastern Conference. Another team that improved at the deadline was the Boston Celtics, who brought in Derrick White to solidify the backcourt. The podcast crew also debated how many teams should be considered title contenders with the postseason scheduled to start in less than two months. We all believe the Suns, Warriors, Bucks, and 76ers have a significant chance to win it all but other teams like the Bulls, Grizzlies, Heat, Celtics, Nuggets and Nets are definitely under consideration as well.
