NBA: Ja Morant poster highlights career-high performance

Ja Morant exploded for a career-high 52 points in a highlight-filled win over the Spurs last night. The All-Star point guard put on an absolute show at home, submitting a dunk of the year candidate with his rim-shattering poster over Jakob Poeltl, before converting an improbable buzzer-beater at the end of the first half on a full court pass from Steven Adams with 0.4 seconds left. In addition to a slew of smooth finishes, he shot 22/30 from the field and 4/4 from 3-point range. Morant had a second consecutive career-best scoring night after going for 46 points in a road win at Chicago.

Not only is Morant making a legitimate case for MVP award, Memphis is just one game behind Golden State for the 3rd seed and could go on a deep run in the playoffs. The Grizzlies are 43-20 and 8-2 in their last 10 games. Morant has gone for 40+ points in three out of four games and scored 13 straight points in the fourth quarter against San Antonio. He is now averaging 27.6 points, which ranks 6th in the league. The Memphis guard attacks the rim as much as anyone with the 3rd most drives per game (20.8) while scoring the most points (15.0) off drives.
