MLB: Red Sox re-hire Alex Cora

Chas Post

The Boston Red Sox have announced that they will re-hire Alex Cora after the manager was fired in January following a one-year suspension from the MLB due to his involvement in the Houston Astros’ cheating scandal. The 45-year-old manager was originally hired by Boston in October of 2017. He went on to help the Red Sox to a 108-54 record and championship a year later alongside Mookie Betts and Chris Sale. Cora was Houston’s bench coach in 2017 after playing 14 seasons in the MLB with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, and others. Boston will look to rebound from a disappointing last place finish (24-36) behind Cora and guys like Xander Bogaerts (.300 BA, 11 HR) and Nathan Eovaldi (4-2, 3.72 ERA).
