MLB: Athletics acquire Mike Minor
The Oakland Athletics have acquired Mike Minor from the Texas Rangers on Monday, August 31, in exchange for a pair of prospects. Minor was an All-Star a year ago, finishing with a solid 14-10 record and a 3.59 ERA in 32 starts with the Rangers. He will stay in the AL West and look to help push Oakland to a deep playoff run before entering free agency in the offseason. "I feel like this team has the potential to go to the World Series," Minor told the San Francisco Chronicle. The lefty pitcher is in his 9th season in the league after being selected by the Atlanta Braves in 2009. His production has dropped off a bit so far this year, with a 5.94 ERA in 36.1 innings pitched, but Minor will look to get back on track with the Athletic's.
