Minnesota Timberwolves overcome slow start to outlast Chicago Bulls 135-119
The Minnesota Timberwolves overcame a double digit deficit in the second half to eventually take down the Chicago Bulls 135-119 and improve to 5-3 on Thursday night at the United Center! Timberwolves star shooting guard Anthony Edwards took over down the stretch, posting a game-high 33 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while frontcourt duo Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle combined for 43 points and 19 rebounds in the comeback victory.
Minnesota trailed for a majority of the game before outscoring Chicago 45-24 in the fourth quarter, using a 12-0 run to take the lead and pull away in the final minutes. Edwards knocked down a series of clutch shots to push the Timberwolves to their first road win at Chicago since 2018. It appeared the game was going to come down to the wire until Chris Finch's team executed much better in the final period en route to securing a second straight win.
"I was pleased at the end of the third quarter because we cut it to five. Our guys were a little frustrated but I thought we were in a good spot. It was only a matter of time until we connected on some shots," Finch said in the postgame press conference. "We probably got the gameplan a little bit wrong. They drove us a lot and we have to do a better job of standing up to those drives but we were able to withstand that and score enough at the other end."
