Donovan Mitchell leads Cleveland Cavaliers to 127-117 win at Indiana Pacers

Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers

The Cleveland Cavaliers outlasted the Indiana Pacers 127-117 to improve on their NBA-best 34-5 record on Tuesday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse! Cleveland was fueled by All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell’s game-high 35 points and nine rebounds, which included exploding for a 19-point first quarter. The Cavaliers were also led by forward Evan Mobley posting 22 points and 13 rebounds, and guard Darius Garland totaling 24 points and seven assists.

It was a competitive game throughout the first half as the Cavaliers took a 62-61 lead into halftime before outscoring the Pacers 38-28 in the third quarter to create some separation. Cleveland continues to look like a legitimate title contender, sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings after going 13-2 in their last 15 games. The Pacers came into the game riding a 6-game win streak but were unable to keep it intact, falling to 22-19 this season.

Both teams are among the NBA’s highest scoring offenses and it was evident as the Cavaliers and Pacers each racked up 50+ points in the paint. Indiana was led by forward Pascal Siakam’s team-high 23 points and seven rebounds but he cooled off in the second half after heading into halftime with 21 points. The Cavaliers will try to keep the momentum going against the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder, while the Pacers face the red-hot Detroit Pistons on Thursday.
