CFB: Texas fires Tom Herman after four years
The Texas Longhorns announced the firing of head coach Tom Herman on Saturday, Jan. 2 after four years with the team. He was hired in 2016 after signing a five-year deal worth $25 million. The Longhorns improved under Herman, going 32-18 and winning 62.9% of his conference games, but it wasn't enough to eclipse Oklahoma as the premier Big 12 team. Herman went just 1-4 against the Sooners but was 4-0 in bowl games, including a win over Georgia in the 2018 Sugar Bowl. According to CBS Sports, Texas plans to hire Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian. If that plan becomes reality, Sarkisian will have an explosive offense with Casey Thompson, Bijan Robinson, Joshua Moore, Jordan Whittington, and others.
