CFB: EMU ends season on high note
Game Recap:
The Eastern Michigan Eagles (2-4) ended their 2020 regular season on a high note with a second consecutive victory over Northern Illinois (0-6) on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti. Tanner Knue and Chad Ryland helped put EMU up 10-0 early in the first quarter with a 14-yard TD and a 39-yard field goal, respectively. Northern Illinois responded with a 10-point run of their own to tie the game but the Eagles separated themselves from that point on.
Preston Hutchinson found Dylan Drummond for an 8-yard TD before another Ryland FG gave EMU a 20-10 halftime lead. Both teams scored 14 in the third quarter as Mark Lee and Darius Boone (18-yard rush) found the end zone for Eastern Michigan, while Erin Collins and Ross Bowers scored for the Huskies. Hutchinson added another TD in the fourth as the Eagles pulled away for a 41-33 win. Hassan Beydoun finished with a game-high 136 yards on eight receptions for EMU.
"It's fun to have your last one at home and it's great to get a victory. To be in our locker room with everyone celebrating, it was a lot of fun. When you get down there, you have to score, and I think we are 100% for the year. There's a lot of things that are positive from this season," Chris Creighton said. "I do want to shoutout our medical personnel. It wasn't perfect but we made it. The guys and our staff did it right. We're thankful we got a chance to play."
