CFB: Best options for Sooners transfer Caleb Williams
Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams announced his decision to enter the transfer portal earlier this week following a successful freshman season. After replacing Spencer Rattler in a 55-48 comeback win against Texas in October, Williams helped the Sooners take down Oregon in the Alamo Bowl and finish 11-2. He was expected to return in 2022 but head coach Lincoln Riley left to take the USC job and that seemingly opened the door for Williams to exit Norman.
Williams is reportedly considering following Riley to USC, even though the Trojans are bringing back Jaxson Dart. There is also a chance he stays with the Sooners but that's unlikely since Dillon Gabriel switched his transfer destination from UCLA to Oklahoma. Williams has a plethora of suitors including SEC programs Florida, Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss. The 5-star prospect racked up 1,916 passing yards and 27 total touchdowns in seven starts as a true freshman in 2021.
