CBB: Wolverines freshman fend off Tarleton State 65-54

Following a recent 80-62 loss to the Arizona Wildcats at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the Michigan Wolverines returned home and fended off Tarleton State 65-54 as the freshman trio of Frankie Collins, Moussa Diabate, and Caleb Houstan combined for 34 points and 18 rebounds. Juwan Howard's team got off to another slow start and allowed the Texans to hang around until pulling away in the final minutes. Michigan shot a season-high 55.3% from the field in the win but committed 21 turnovers and struggled to generate quality shots for several possessions at a time.

Houstan recorded his first career double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks on 2/5 shooting from 3-point range. Meanwhile Diabate continued to bring a ton of energy off the bench, putting up 14 points and seven rebounds. Collins entered the game midway through the first half and flashed impressive athleticism and helped give the Wolverines a 31-22 lead at halftime. He had six points and a team-high four assists in just 15 minutes before not playing at all in the second half. Howard will look to his freshman even more going forward as Michigan travels to North Carolina on Wednesday night.
