CBB: 20 Immediately eligible transfers to keep an eye on
1. Remy Martin (Kansas/PG): Following a successful four years at Arizona State, the 6'0 point guard decided to enter the transfer portal and join the Jayhawks. Martin, who averaged 19.1 points and 3.7 assists per game with the Sun Devils in 2021, will bring experienced ball handling and perimeter scoring to Kansas. Bill Self's team is undoubtedly a Big 12 championship contender after adding Martin to an existing core of Ochai Agbaji, David McCormack, and Jalen Wilson.
2. Marcus Carr (Texas/PG): Chris Beard wasted no time putting together a talented roster in his first offseason since being hired as Longhorns head coach in April. Carr is a confident and dynamic three-level scorer, who averaged 19.4 points and 4.9 assists at Minnesota a year ago and will immediately impact Texas. In addition to the 6'2 guard, Beard picked up fellow transfers Timmy Allen (17.2 points per game at Utah), Devin Askew, Christian Bishop, Dylan Disu, and Tre Mitchell.
3. Qudus Wahab (Maryland/C): Despite showing noticeable improvement under Patrick Ewing and helping Georgetown win the Big East championship a year ago, Wahab entered the portal and ended up at Maryland. The 6'11 big man will have a chance to battle fellow dominant Big Ten centers including Kofi Cockburn, Hunter Dickinson, Trayce Jackson-Davis, and Trevion Williams. He put up 12.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game as a junior.
4. James Akinjo (Baylor/PG): Scott Drew hopes Akinjo will help soften the blow of losing starting backcourt mates Jared Butler and Davion Mitchell to the NBA. After attending Georgetown and Arizona, the 6'1 senior guard decided to finish his career at Baylor. Akinjo averaged 15.6 points, 5.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game on 40.8% from 3-point range with the Wildcats last season. He earned All-Pac-12 honors in 2021 and will have a chance to lead Baylor to another deep run.
5. Garrison Brooks (Mississippi State/PF): North Carolina lost a pair of big men to the portal this offseason including Brooks, who was an All-ACC performer as a junior. He put up 16.8 points and 8.5 rebounds in 2019-20 before taking a step back in a loaded frontcourt last year. The 6'10 power forward has a chance to go to Mississippi State and be one of the best low-post players in the SEC because of his experience, power, and interior scoring ability.
