Cavaliers comeback to outlast Magic 106-94 in Game 7 win
The Cleveland Cavaliers stormed back from an 18-point deficit in the first half to eventually outlast the Orlando Magic 106-94 in Game 7 of the NBA Playoffs opening round on Sunday afternoon at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse! Orlando jumped out to an early lead but Cavaliers star guard Donovan Mitchell dropped a game-high 39 points to fuel the comeback win and help Cleveland clinch a spot in the conference semifinals for the first time since 2018.
Check out highlights from the Cavaliers thrilling win over the Magic to keep the season alive and advance to face the top seeded Boston Celtics in the second round! Coming off a 50-point performance in a narrow Game 6 loss, Mitchell continued to show why he is considered one of the most dynamic players in the league with 39 points and nine rebounds in the win. Magic forward Paolo Banchero put up 38 points and 16 rebounds in his Game 7 debut.
Mitchell recoded the second-most points (89) in the final two outings of a 7-game series in NBA history and reacted to the series-clinching win in the postgame press conference via Cleveland Cavaliers: “We were able to learn a lot of things about ourselves. This was a great series and test for us mentally and physically but we can and will have to be better to beat Boston. I feel like this was big for us as a group but we don't really have much time to celebrate."
