The Arizona Cardinals signed safety Budda Baker to a four-year contract extension worth $59 million and $33.1 million guaranteed. According to ESPN, the deal makes Baker the highest paid safety in NFL history. The 195-pound free safety was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cardinals, before playing in 46 games over the last three years with the team. Baker started 16 games last season, finishing with 147 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, six pass deflections, and one forced fumble. He'll now remain a staple on Arizona's defense for the foreseeable future, alongside veterans Chandler Jones, Dre Kirkpatrick, and Patrick Peterson. The Cardinals had the fifth worst defense in the league a season ago, giving up 442 points, but Baker will look to help improve that in the coming years.
