CFB: Big 12 quarterback rankings

1. Sam Ehlinger (Texas Longhorns): Ehlinger in the most experienced quarterback in the Big 12 and most people are expecting him and Texas to be a lot better this year. He helped lead his team to a 10-4 record in 2018, including a Sugar Bowl win over Georgia, and anything less than that will be a disappointing season for the senior QB. Ehlinger threw for 281.8 yards per game, along with 32 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

2. Brock Purdy (Iowa State Cyclones): Purdy is heading into his junior season, which is why I think he will be a little better than Spencer Rattler (Oklahoma) and Spencer Sanders (Oklahoma State). He threw for an impressive 306.3 passing yards per game, as well as 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Iowa State is just a few wins away from really breaking onto the scene under Matt Campbell and Purdy could be the guy to take them there.

3. Spencer Rattler (Oklahoma Sooners): Rattler is tough to grade because of how little we have seem him. A little over a year ago, we were expecting him to start as a true freshman at Oklahoma until Jalen Hurts transferred there. Rattler will get his turn now, though, and it comes with high expectations. The 6'0 QB threw for just 81 yards on 7/11 passing in his first season with the Sooners. He had one touchdown pass in three games played.

4. Alan Bowman (Texas Tech Red Raiders): Bowman has been a really good quarterback when he has been healthy, he just can't seem to stay on the field. In 11 games, he's averaged 332.5 yards per game, and he has totaled 23 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions. If Bowman can play a full season, he'll have a chance to lead the Big 12 in yards but the lack of talent around him will probably keep him behind Ehlinger and Purdy.

5. Spencer Sanders (Oklahoma State Cowboys): Sanders was pretty good in his freshman season, taking over the top spot in the middle of the season, en route to averaging 187.7 yards per game. He also had 16 passing touchdowns and 11 interceptions thrown. I expect Sanders, who should be fully healthy, to compete with Ehlinger, Purdy, Rattler, and Bowman as the league's best QB. He will also have some nice help in running back Chuba Hubbard.
