NFL: Gordon goes to the Broncos
The Denver Broncos have signed running back Melvin Gordon to a two-year contract worth $16 million. According to multiple reports, $13.5 million is guaranteed. The 26-year-old running back averaged just 3.8 yards per carry last season after holding out for the first four games of the year. In the 12 games he did play, Gordon was effective but not nearly as good as he was the previous year. Gordon will stay in the division, though, leaving the Los Angeles Chargers for Denver, where he'll join Phillip Lindsay in the backfield. Those two form a pretty high level backfield, and they'll try to mesh well with second year starting quarterback Drew Lock. Gordon, who was a Heisman finalist at Wisconsin in 2014, will try to get his career back on the right track as he joins a much improved Broncos team.
