CBB: Obi Toppin named Player of Year

Obi Toppin has been named the 2019-20 AP National Player of the Year after his dominant season with the Dayton Flyers. Toppin averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game, as his team went an impressive 29-2 and going undefeated in conference play, prior to the A-10 Tournament and NCAA Tournament being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dayton was also 17-0 on their home floor, and compiled wins over Virginia Tech (89-62), St. Mary's (78-68), VCU (79-65), and others in dominant fashion. Toppin declared for the NBA Draft earlier this week and he is likely a top-five pick, alongside Anthony Edwards, James Wiseman, LaMelo Ball, and Cole Anthony. The Golden State Warriors hold the top selection for now, and Toppin's parents said that's where they want their son to play.
