NFL: Tampa Bay brings in Brady
Tom Brady announced on Tuesday, March 17 in the morning that he would no be returning to the New England Patriots via Twitter. Brady will be signing a $30 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after 20 seasons in New England. He won six Super Bowl championships in that time but had a pretty mediocre season last year, completing 60.8% of his passes for 4,024 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
The deal will is reportedly for two years. New England, despite all of their success with Brady, lost in the Wild Card round to the Tennessee Titans at home following another AFC East title. The 42-year-old will have to start over for the first time in his career as he heads south to Tampa, who hasn’t reached the playoffs since 2007. With Brady and Bruce Arians at the helm, the Bucs think they can make a run at the NFC South title.
Tampa does have an impressive receiving group with Mike Evans, Dasean Jackson, and Chris Godwin, which is much better than what the Patriots had last season. Tampa Bay automatically improves their team as they replace Jameis Winston with Brady but the latter will now have to deal with a much tougher division than he’s ever seen. He’ll have to go up against playoff contenders New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, and Atlanta Falcons.
