MLB: Washington wins World Series title
The Washington Nationals (93-69, 12-5) have defeated the Houston Astros (107-55, 10-8) in Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Minute Maid Park in Houston. The Nationals won the game 6-2 behind the bats of Anthony Rendon and Howie Kendrick. Max Scherzer (11-7, 2.92 ERA) started the game for Washington despite missing his Game 5 start due to neck spasms, while Zack Greinke (18-5, 2.93 ERA) took the mound for Houston. Greinke was pulled despite giving up just two hits into the seventh inning. The Nationals have now won their first World Series title in franchise history. Juan Soto (34 HR, 110 RBI) adds his first title in his rookie year, while Scherzer and former #1 pick Stephen Strasburg add a ring to their résumé. Strasburg (2-0, 2.51 ERA) won World Series MVP.
