CFB: Week 10 Preview
Top-10 Rankings:
1. Alabama (8-0, 100)
2. Clemson (8-0, 96)
3. Notre Dame (8-0, 92)
4. LSU (7-1, 86)
5. Michigan (7-1, 86)
6. Oklahoma (7-1, 76)
7. Georgia (7-1, 60)
8. Ohio State (7-1, 56)
9. UCF (7-0, 52)
10. Washington State (7-1, 50)
Review: Georgia (+2) survived their rivalry matchup with Florida, who was previously ranked in the top-10 as well. The Bulldogs won, 36-17, behind QB Jake Fromm's impressive outing. Georgia will now face Kentucky with a chance to secure a berth in the SEC championship game. Florida (-3), on the other hand, slides down a bit before their return home against Missouri. With that said, the Gators weren't even close to being our biggest loser of the week, which was Texas (-11). The Longhorns were riding a six-game winning streak heading into their game against Oklahoma State, and the Cowboys pulled off the 38-35 upset to drop Texas. Another Big 12 team, Oklahoma (+1), was the only other movement in the rankings.
Weekly Standings:
Caleb Henderson: 33-12
Charles Post: 36-9
Chinedum Wejinya: 36-9
Tyler Taylor: 29-16
Consensus Picks:
No. 3 Notre Dame @ Northwestern
Penn State @ No. 5 Michigan
No. 6 Oklahoma @ Texas Tech
Stanford @ Washington
No. 1 Alabama @ No. 4 LSU
Review: No. 3 Notre Dame got back on track after struggling mightily against Pittsburgh on October 13th, and the 44-22 win over Navy pushes them to 8-0 prior to a matchup with Northwestern. Also in the Big Ten, No. 5 Michigan hosts Penn State. No. 6 Oklahoma hits the road to face upset-minded Texas Tech, and Stanford travels to Washington, hoping to avoid a second straight loss. In the biggest game of the weekend, No. 1 Alabama faces their first real test on the road versus No. 4 LSU. This game could very well decide the SEC West which would go a long way in deciding which four teams reach the College Football Playoff. According to ESPN FPI, the Tigers have just a 21.6 percent chance to upset the defending champions.
Heisman Standings:
1. Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama, 20)
2. Kyler Murray (Oklahoma, 12)
3. Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State, 8)
4. Travis Etienne (Clemson, 8)
5. Ed Oliver (Houston, 3)
Review: QB Tua Tagovailoa didn't play this past week as the Crimson Tide had a bye week prior to their battle against the Tigers, but he is still far and away at the top of our leaderboard. QB Kyler Murray gained a little bit of ground, earning two extra points to close ground on Tagovailoa. Murray had 352 yards and three touchdowns on 79.2 percent passing. QB Dwayne Haskins drops down a spot, but only because he didn't play. He'll get a chance to impress the country over these next three weeks against Nebraska, Michigan State, and Maryland, leading up to a showdown with Michigan. RB Travis Etienne is the only running back in our top five but he had just 45 yards on 10 carries last week. DL Ed Oliver rounds out of standings.
