CFB: Week 7 Preview

Top-10 Rankings:

1. Alabama (6-0, 100 Pts)

2. Georgia (6-0, 93 Pts)

3. Ohio State (6-0, 92 Pts)

4. Clemson (6-0, 88 Pts)

5. Notre Dame (6-0, 87 Pts)

6. West Virginia (5-0, 80 Pts)

7. Washington (5-1, 71 Pts)

8. Penn State (4-1, 69 Pts)

9. Central Florida (5-0, 52 Pts)

10. Texas (5-1, 52 Pts)

Review: Texas (+9) is our biggest riser from last week as they defeated then-undefeated No. 7 Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown. The Longhorns led by 21 points at one point and looked as though they were going to run away with it, before QB Kyler Murray made an unbelievable comeback for the Sooners. The Horns were able to put together a game-winning drive in the final minutes to secure the win, though, and they move into the top-10 because of it. QB Sam Ehlinger totaled five touchdowns. Oklahoma (-5) dropped the furthest after suffering the heartbreaking loss at the Texas State Fair. Other teams that moved around were Penn State (+3), Central Florida (+2), West Virginia (+1), and LSU (-2), following their first loss to Florida.

Weekly Standings:

Caleb Henderson: 22-8

Charles Post: 25-5

Chinedum Wejinya: 25-5

Tyler Taylor: 18-12

Consensus Picks:

Baylor @ No. 10 Texas

Miami @ Virginia

No. 2 Georgia @ LSU

Wisconsin @ Michigan

No. 7 Washington @ Oregon

Review: No. 10 Texas is coming off of a huge win over No. 7 Oklahoma, 48-45, to get them their highest ranking in nearly a decade. We don't know if the Longhorns are officially "back" but they do seem to be the favorites to win the Big 12. They'll host Baylor. Miami hits the record to Virginia, looking to earn their sixth straight victory. No. 2 Georgia will face their second ranked opponent, this time at LSU. In the Big Ten, Michigan and Wisconsin will try to stay unbeaten in the conference, keeping pace with Ohio State. And in the Pac-12, Washington stays on the road for the second consecutive week, going to Eugene to play the one-loss Ducks. We're riding with Texas, Miami, Georgia, Michigan, and Washington.

Heisman Standings:

1. Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) (+0)

2. Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) (+1)

3. Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State) (-1)

4. Will Grier (West Virginia) (+0)

5. Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin) (+1)

Review: QB Tua Tagovailoa notches his fifth straight week at the top spot of our standings, and he seems to be separating himself from the pack a bit. He threw for 334 yards on 76.9 percent passing and four touchdowns against Arkansas. Not to mention a near-perfect 99.6 QBR. Tua's been the best player in the country and the award is his to lose right now. QB Kyler Murray did all he could in the Sooners' loss to Texas, as he threw for 304 yards, four touchdowns, and a long of 77 yards. He added 92 yards on the ground. QB Dwayne Haskins comes in third after throwing for six touchdowns and two picks. QB Will Grier kept West Virginia undefeated with 332 yards against Kansas. RB Jonathan Taylor moves up after running for 221 yards and three touches.
