CFB: Buckeyes Blow By Horned Frogs

No. 4 Ohio State used a 27-point second half to move past No. 15 TCU, 40-28, to keep their undefeated record intact. The Buckeyes were coming off of a pair of blowout victories over Oregon State and Rutgers, and this was their first true test. It was also QB Dwayne Haskins' first career start against a ranked opponent. He did just fine, and looks ready to lead the Buckeyes to a potential College Football Playoff run. The Horned Frogs were also 2-0 coming into this game and a win would have meant a lot for their program, as well as the Big 12 as a whole. Unfortunately for HC Gary Patterson and his team, they couldn't upset the Buckeyes, and will go back to the drawing board before beginning conference play.

Ohio State began the game like man predicted they would: Quickly. Not even two minutes into the game, the Buckeyes were on the board with a 20-yard field goal. They added on to that approximately six minutes late when DE Nick Bosa recorded a strip-sack and it was recovered in the end zone for the first touchdown of the game. TCU deserves a lot of credit, though, because they could have gave up right then (a lot of teams would have). But the Horned Frogs answered back with a pair of rushing touchdowns, including a 93-yard score from RB Darius Anderson to give the Frogs a 14-10 lead. But after that, Ohio State outscored them 30-14 behind scores from WR Parris Campbell, WR K.J. Hill, and QB Haskins.

The Buckeyes were led by sophomore RB J.K. Dobbins who had by far his best game of the young season as he went for 121 yards on 18 carries for a 6.7 average. Although he didn't get into the end zone, he was consistent from start to finish. Dobbins' longest run was an 18-yard burst. QB Haskins was impressive as usual, also, as he connected on 63.2 percent of his passes. He also had 344 yards, two touchdowns, and averaged 9.1 yards per throw. QB Shawn Robinson, of TCU, hit 60.0 percent of his attempts for 308 yards, but threw a couple of costly picks. The Buckeyes will get HC Urban Meyer back from suspension as they face Tulane, No. 10 Penn State, and Indiana. The Frogs play Texas, Iowa State, and Texas Tech in the next month.
