NFL: Eagles Win the Super Bowl
What a game for the ages! As the Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl as a franchise, there were a lot of takeaways from this game. Not only did both teams break the record with the most combined total yards (1,151), but both teams broke the record for most total passing yards as well (874). The biggest story of this Super Bowl has to be QB Nick Foles. Once the back-up quarterback behind QB Carson Wentz, Foles led his team to three straight playoff victories including a big Super Bowl win. As the Eagles celebrate, the Patriots seem to be getting older and older, and who knows what could happen next season.
In QB Tom Brady's eighth Super Bowl, he couldn't come away with his sixth title. The Eagles slipped by the Patriots, 41-33, in one of the best title games ever (Although, last year was pretty good too), despite giving up 505 passing yards from Brady. Foles had 373 yards himself, and three touchdowns to one interception. The rushing attack was impressive as well. RB LeGarrette Blount ran for 90 yards on 14 runs and earned his second straight Super Bowl ring, as he won it last season with New England. HC Doug Pederson had also won the Super Bowl in just his second season as the Eagles coach. A bright future for Philadelphia had begun!
