NFL: One Game Away
With Sunday's results in the conference championship games, the match up for the grand stage of Super Bowl LI is set. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick clinched their 7th Super Bowl appearance, as if they needed any more to cement themselves as one of the greatest quarterback and coach relationships.
The former 6th round pick from Ann Arbor and that failed former Cleveland Browns head coach will have their hands full against a familiar face in the Super Bowl, Dan Quinn. In just his second season as the Falcons' head coach, the former Super Bowl winning defensive coordinator has reached the peak of the NFL season. In 2014, Quinn’s defense was remarkable allowing just 15.9 points per game with Seattle, while losing to "Tom Terrific" and an undrafted rookie free agent out of West Alabama, by the name of Malcolm Butler, who will play a much bigger role in Super Bowl LI, than he did in XLIX.
In comparison, the 2014 Patriots team averaged 29.3 PPG against a 27.6 PPG Pats squad this year. Quinn’s Atlanta team allowed 25.4 PPG compared to that incredible 15.9 PPG Seahawks defense that almost went back-to-back before it was a song.
I expect for New England's offense to strike for 28 points en route to Brady hoisting his fourth Super Bowl MVP trophy with confetti pouring down over Robert Kraft, and an uncomfortable Roger Goodell presenting the Lombardi Trophy.
However, this game will be won on the defensive side for New England who has to limit a high flying Falcons offense, scoring 33.8 PPG with the most likely 2016 NFL MVP Matt Ryan, is going to be very hard to stop. With former Lions product Kyle Van Noy having a big conference championship and a brick wall New England defense who gives up 15.6 PPG, expect Matty Ice to melt like the Wicked Witch of the West and muster up only 14 points.
With the NFL season coming to an end, so is this article.
My prediction; New England 28, Atlanta 14.
