NFL: Ravens release Earl Thomas
Earl Thomas, a 7-time Pro Bowler, was released by the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, August 23 after getting into a fight with teammate Chuck Clark at practice two days prior. Thomas spent his first nine seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, winning a title in 2014, before signing with the Ravens and playing in 15 games last year. The 202-pound safety finished with 49 total tackles, six quarterback hits, four pass deflections, and two interceptions in 2019. He signed a four-year deal worth $55 million last March with Baltimore but will now be looking for his third team in a year. According to CBS Sports, the Dallas Cowboys are leading candidates for the 31-year-old safety, but at least seven other teams are involved including the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and Cleveland Browns.
