MLB: Mike Soroka out for season
Mike Soroka, a 23-year-old starting pitcher for the Atlanta Braves, tore his Achilles on Monday, August 3 and will be out for the remainder of the 60-game regular season and the ensuing playoffs. The 6'5 right handed pitcher was three games into his third season in the MLB, all of which have been with the Braves. Soroka had a historical rookie year last season, finishing with a 13-4 record and a 2.68 ERA in 29 starts. He was also named an All-Star and finished second in the NL Rookie of the Year race (behind Pete Alonso). Atlanta currently sits at 9-5, second best record in the NL East, but will need to find another solid option to replace Soroka. For the rest of this season, expect the Braves' pitching rotation to look something like: Max Fried, Cole Hamels, Sean Newcomb, and Kyle Wright.
