NFL: Mahomes signs 10-year deal

Patrick Mahomes signed a 10-year deal worth approximately $503 million, which is the biggest contract in American sports history, with the Kansas City on Monday, July 6. The 6'3 quarterback is heading into his fourth season and has already compiled a Super Bowl title and MVP (2019), an Offensive Player of the Year and league MVP (2018), and two Pro Bowl selections (2018, 2019). Mahomes threw for 4,031 yards, 26 touchdowns, and just five interceptions on 65.9% passing in 14 games last year. He now signs the biggest contract in league history, which will go into effect in 2022, and will be 38-years-old when the deal is completed. Kansas City (and the whole NFL for that matter) knew that Mahomes was headed for a big pay day but the number being over $500 million is still astonishing.
