NBA: Several players to sit out season
According to multiple reports, five NBA players have announced they will not play when the regular season resumes on Thursday, July 30. The first player to do so was Davis Bertans, who announced his decision on Monday, June 22. Bertans is averaging 15.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and will be a free agent in the fall. Trevor Ariza, Avery Bradley, and Willie Cauley-Stein also followed suit. Ariza and Bradley both opted-out due to different situations with their families. The Los Angeles Lakers have replaced Bradley with JR Smith, while the Dallas Mavericks signed Trey Burke. Ariza averaged 11.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season. Bradley averaged 8.6 points for the Lakers. The most recent player to opt-out was Wilson Chandler. He was averaging 5.9 points for the Brooklyn Nets.
