SOC: Clint Dempsey Retires
According to Forbes, "After over 600 games for club and country, USMNT international Clint Dempsey has announced his retirement." Dempsey, the 35-year-old, began his college career at Furman where he appeared in 62 matches and scored 17 goals. He then moved on to play for Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, and the Seattle Sounders F.C., as well as others during his professional tenure. In 404 outings, Dempsey scored an impressive 129 goals. However, Dempsey will always be best remembered for his time with the United States national team. He first appeared on the team in 2004 and spent over 13 years with the organization, scoring 57 goals, which is tied for the all-time record with former teammate Landon Donovan.
